Vineyard Notes
The 2012 growing season was close to perfect, presenting few challenges. A fairly mild spring led to near-ideal bud break, uniform flowering and even fruit set. Relatively cool weather conditions throughout the summer months, with warm days and cool, foggy nights, allowed for long, even ripening. This fairly mild weather pattern gave us the opportunity to wait patiently for fruit maturity, and harvest on our own terms, without rush and worry of rain, rot or sunburn. Our yields were high and the quality stellar, with classic acid to sugar balance. Age worthy wines, dark in color and rich in concentrated flavors, are the marvelous result of this gorgeous growing season.
Production Notes
Our Our Felicity Cabernet Sauvignon is crafted from Sodaro estate-grown fruit and aged 22 months in French Oak. It is a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Malbec, 5% Cabernet Franc, 4% Petit Verdot and 3% Merlot.
Ratings
94 points (Wine & Spirits) -- "It has the coolness of fresh black cherries and blueberries, the earthiness of freshly turned soil. The tannins are crisply detailed, seeming to hold the floral scent of roses, with a cool elegance that parallels the fruit. The wine keeps driving forward as it opens with air, delicious with lamb if decanted now, set to devlope in bottle for several years." (Featured in the December 2015 issue)
